Pure Francis, the magazine, is a Chicago-based online journal of the arts that publishes poetry, short prose, visual art, audio art, and comics. We love both traditional and experimental forms, strong imagery, snappy dialogue, being surprised, and long walks along the lakefront. We have a serious distaste for sentimentality and bad grammar. New work is published every Sunday.
Pure Francis, the man, was born under mysterious conditions on a tramp steamer off the coast of Finland. He stands 2 feet, 6 inches tall and counts fencing, origami, and collecting REO Speedwagon bootlegs amongst his vast array of hobbies. He founded the print version of Pure Francis in May, 1908. It folded in June, 1908.
On behalf of Pure Francis, both the magazine and the man, thank you for visiting. We hope to see you again next week.
