The sirens scream. Hundreds of ambulances howl down the streets; packs of them hunt down careless pedestrians, the lame and the aged. A moment’s distraction, and the chase is over. People in white medical jackets, with white square surgical masks covering their mouths and noses, hold down the helpless struggling victims, inject them with the clear liquid in their syringes, mumble, “There, that didn’t hurt now, did it?” - and rush back to the ambulances, which hurry off wailing. Firecrackers go off in the side streets, and colored balloons float up past windows of faces looking down. An old priest stands on an overturned trash can shouting, “Madness! Madness!” It is unclear whether he is for it or against it. Every night, in more and more houses, the door opens and a stranger walks in. “Honey, I’m home,” they all say. Their mates and children shiver in the closets. The TV is always on.
JBMulligan believes this to be the testing ground for actual news / playground for the FLOBSOTS (fringe lunatics on both sides of the street).
